is a complex of 19 buildings in Manhattan, with shops, restaurants and offices. Its was built in the1930s by the Rockefeller family and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987
Winter fun
More than 250,000 people ice skate here every winter.

Let's ice skate!
The ice rink is open from October to April. It was first installed on Christmas Day 1936.

A gold statue
This is the Prometheus statue. In Greek Mythology, Prometheus stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals.

Lights
Lighting the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center is an important signal to New Yorkers: the Christmas season has started! In 2008, the three was lit on 3 December.

The tradition
The first Christmas tree was placed here in 1931, before the Rockefeller Center was built. It was decorated with garlands and tin cans.
